Panlong Gorge waterfall cluster Can you picture a scene of nearly 100 waterfalls in one place, producing a symphony of sounds with the gurgling and crashing of water? Located in the northwest Deqing County, Zhaoqing City, and 28 kilometers from the county seat, Panlong Gorge Scenic Area boasts a long gorge and the No. 1 waterfall cluster in Guangdong Province with more than 100 waterfalls. The Guangdong provincial tourism administration has acknowledged that the waterfalls are some of the region’s most impressive. Indeed, their beauty is rare in Asia. Panlong Gorge is an ideal destination for admiring pristine natural scenery and learning about Chinese dragon culture and legends. It is honored as the photography base for the Guangdong Photographers Association. In this tourism attraction, you can see the sprawling green of aged trees including the “l(fā)iving fossil” fern, which is rated as a first-grade nationally protected plant species. Its crystal clear and unpolluted water flows swiftly. From the Hongyan Mountain to the mouth of the Lianjiang River, the river meanders over 180 kilometers. The most impressive section of the river is its three gorges: the Yangtiao Gorge, the Longquan Gorge and the Lengqie Gorge, collectively known as Huangchuan Three Gorges. The Tianhe Waterfall, located in the forest, is 200 meters in height and nicknamed the “No.1 waterfall in South China.” You may have seen many waterfalls falling from above, but have you seen a waterfall under your feet? Above the waterfall clusters at Xianrendong there is a glass observation platform. Standing on the platform, you can not only have a special view of the waterfall under your feet but also look at the mountains in a sea of clouds in the distance.
